All-District Football Team

Posted Date: 12/01/24 (4:47 PM)

What a great year for the young men here at Gustine High School playing varsity football. First off, we began the year ranked in the upper 50's, and finished in the upper 20's. We were picked by all publications to finish last in our district, but that didn't happen. Our team finished the year 8-2 and barely missed the playoffs. Quite an accomplishment considering we played the last 3 weeks of the season with only 7 players. The awards these players have just earned are remarkable, and I'm very happy to share them all with you:
Newcomer of the Year-Andy Garcia, Fr, Gustine
1st Team All-District Honors:
WR-Anthony Patino, Soph, Gustine
FB-Alonso Gomez, Fr, Gustine
Special Teams Player-Gabriel Patino, Sr, Gustine
CB-Allen Lopez, Sr, Gustine
2nd Team All-District Honors:
C-Juan Munoz, Sr, Gustine
QB-Allen Lopez, Sr, Gustine
RB-Andy Garcia, Fr, Gustine
DL-Alonso Gomez, Fr, Gustine
Spread Rusher-Michael Garcia, Soph, Gustine
DL-Gabriel Patino, Sr, Gustine
CB-Anthony Patino, Soph, Gustine
Gabriel Patino is also the 2nd alternate to the All-Star Division II game this upcoming June in Wichita Falls at 6-man coaching school, so he should get a chance to finish off his high school career at the highest level a player in 6-Man can go.  Once again, I'm very proud to have coached these young men the last 3 seasons, and all that they attain is a direct result of their dedication and hard work in the name of Gustine ISD.
